The Diamond Review — Wax Blockchain Metric 1.1
Introducing Wax Metric 1.1
Since the NFG entered the Wax Blockchain, the ecosystem has changed drastically, evolving from a platform for NFT collecting to one of the most mature blockchains supporting Play to Earn games.
On releasing the Wax Blockchain Diamond Review Metric 1.0 earlier this summer, the scene was a little less mature than it is at the time of writing (11th November 2021). Whilst some games had entered staking or crafting phases, many hadn’t materialised into fully functioning games.
Whilst being aware that the metric would need to be updated as the ecosystem evolved, the rate at which Wax Play 2 Earn games are developing and encouraging new users onto Wax is now rapid, meaning many of the figures we used in Metric 1.0 now seem insignificant, making it easy for projects to score higher.
For example, to score 5/5 points on criteria RF4: Consistent Performance in Aftermarket Sales Frequency, a project had to have an average of >200 sales/day over the space of a month — with the rise in volume and sale prices on Atomic Hub over the past few months, we have noticed many projects have sales in the 1000s.

Updates to the Metric
Criteria
In addition to the coding for Market Performance changing for RF to MP, the following categories have been removed after we felt the criteria were no longer useful for determining the long-term success and sustainability of a project, due to cultural chThis has resulted in one criterion being removed:

In addition to this, two new criteria have been added to reflect cultural themes and which better reflect fairness to all players:

Weighting
Going forward, all projects scored using Metric 1.1 will be scored out of 100, instead of 90 points. The points needed to achieve each GEM STATUS have therefore also changed to reflect the increase in total achievable points.
Previously, all criteria were evenly weighted, scoring up to 5 points each. However, in Metric 1.1 all values other than the following will score 5 depending on whether we deem the criteria to be less or more important to the overall success and sustainability of a project:

- W2: Tokenomics — 7.5
- W3: Narrative — 2.5
- W4: Mechanics & Gameplay — 7.5
Undertake a Diamond Review Yourself!
We have made the Wax Metric 1.1 available for download so that you can undertake a Diamond Review of any Wax Blockchain P2E Project.
Any Diamond Reviews undertaken by the community can be submitted to the Research Unit in the NFG Discord. Following review by the Research Unit, your Review could be published, with an infographic being produced and you receiving acknowledgment!
When undertaking reviews, remember that that the Metric is designed to be used on projects which:
- Have working game mechanics (Alpha Phase or above)
- Have had a game mode live for at least 2 weeks
The Metric should not be used for games in development. Any reviews submitted which do not follow these key rules will not be reviewed by the NFG Research Unit.
